the myth.
It is what it’s always been: a journey, making rough ideas smoother, something to look at, sit with, and make thought out of.
Making music started for Dan in the early 90s, in the Ozarks, when he decided to make his brand of lo-fi emotional hip-hop using the name Listener. He went on to record eight albums in the duo Labklik and three albums in the group Deepspace5 as ‘Listener’. In 2002 he started touring full time as a solo artist under the name, and has played thousands of shows in over 30 countries zig zagging across the globe. In the years 2007/2008 Listener became a band with Dan as the vocalist, bass, and horn player with friends. This period in the band transitioned the music into what it is today with their musical voice coupled with a unique brand of channeled poetry.
An idea mantra he has used since the early days has been:
“Making the music that you are going to need, but you just don’t know it yet.”
